It started at Hoverson Farms in Larimore, North Dakota with a pancake break- fast at 7:00 AM. Over 150 growers and industry people attended. Dr. Andy Robinson, NDSU/UMN wel- comed everyone to the NPPGA Annual Field Day event. Dr. Darrin Haagenson, USDA/ARS talked on the storage and processing evaluations of advanced breeding clones. He mentioned that the East Grand Forks Potato Research Worksite has been doing some upgrading of their storage units and other equipment. He thanked the NPPGA for their continued support. Dr. Susie Thompson, NDSU, spoke on her research on advancing dual purpose Russets and her chip pro- cessing selections she has in Larimore. Dr. Gary Secor, NDSU, gave an update on Late Blight and Dickeya. He said Late Blight has been discov- ered in Pembina County. He said the good news is that it has only been found in one field so far. He also spoke on Dickeya which is a new cause of Blackleg in potatoes. It started around three years ago in the Eastern U.S. but now has moved into the Central U.S. It causes the reduction of stand in some cases up to 70 or 80 percent. Dr. Ian McRae, UMN, had a presen- tation on aphids and on Colorado Potato Beetle Management. He said so far the aphid risk is very low at this time but the Colorado Potato Beetle population is up this year in North Dakota. Dr. Neil Gudmestad ended the speakers in Larimore with a talk on Psyllid Identification and on Scouting and Management. He talked on the Late Blight in the Valley and the importance of letting them know when a grower has Late Blight because it not only effects their farm but also their neighbors and the entire region. He said this is the second time in the last five years that we have Psyllids. He said that he is not quite sure yet how bad they will be but said they are very serious in the Western U.S. and in Western North Dakota and it is the largest expan- sion of Psyllid activity that he has seen in a long time. 2016 NPPGA Field Day These are the members of Team Potato.
