It was another successful Field Day at Hoverson Farms and we would like to thank the Hoverson family for being excellent hosts. From Hoverson Farms we headed to Inkster, North Dakota for a luncheon sponsored by J.R. Simplot and hosted by the Forest River Colony. The Colony prepared a wonderful lunch with ham, macaroni salad, and dessert for over 175 growers and industry people that attended. A big thank you goes out to the Forest River Colony for being such gracious hosts to everyone who attended. After the lunch we took a tour of the Inkster research site. Upasana Ghosh, NDSU, spoke on potato yield response and nitrogen losses as influenced by vare- ity and cultivars. Dr. Andy Robinson, NDSU, spoke on Phosphoric Acid injury in potatoes. Dr. Harlene Hatterman- Valenti, talked on Glyphosate and Dicamba on potatoes. Dr. Guiping Yan, NDSU, talked on her research with detection and management of Stubby Root Nematodes. She focused on the tremendous dam- age that Nematodes can do to potatoes. She said that one of the options for controlling Nematodes is crop rotation. Dr. Secor, NDSU, spoke on late blight and Dickeya and on his seed treatment trials. Dr. Secor had seven different trials going on at the Inkster site. Dr. Susie Thompson, NDSU, spoke on screening for tolerance to Metribuzin. Susie mentioned that last year they had maybe a dozen clones where this year they had 30. Dr. Ian McRae, UMN, spoke on Colorado Potato Dr. Susie Thompson speaks on her potato trials at Larimore. Dr. Neil Gudmestad, NDSU, tells everyone about his Psyllid research at Larimore.
