We didnt quite get there, serving 5,184 lbs of fries, but that stillis a very good number considering the weather.Friday afternoon was the University of North Dakota Fan Luncheonheld at the Alerus Center. The Grand Marshal of this years PotatoBowl was Paul Dolan. Paul retired from his position at AssociatedPotato Growers in December of 2018 after 25 years in the potatoindustry. The Potato Bowl Ambassadors were Olivia Taylor of Grand The Hugos Get Wet and Run Wild race had lots ofForks, North Dakota and Nicholas Thompson of Park River, North children and adults running in it.Dakota.BoththeAmbassadorsreceiveda$1,000PotatoBowlScholarship.On Friday evening the Hugos Get Wet and Run Wild event was heldat the Choice Health and Fitness Center. This was a great event forkids of all ages and the proceeds from the event goes to local foodshelves to help those in need. Even with the weather being a bitchilly the kids still came out to race and have fun.The Kem Shriners held their second Rockin The Forks dance down-town with Kenny and the Classics opening up for the band, Rhymeor Reason. Even though the weather was a little cool, this event wasalso very well attended.The Potato Bowl Parade was held Saturday morning, September 14th The Kem Temple Shriners had a few cars and floats inthe Potato Bowl parade.before the football game.The parade had over 115 floats this year,all with a potato or football theme. The parade route returned toUniversity Avenue where peoplelined up and down the streets allalong the parade route.After the parade everyone made their way over to the Alerus Centerin Grand Forks for some tailgating fun. A Potato Bowl tailgating tentserved hundreds of fans who stopped by for a free baked potato bar,and refreshments before the game. Over 725 baked potatoes wereserved to the hungry crowd.This years Potato Bowl football game had a crowd of around 9,000.The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks won the game, beat-ing Sam Houston State 27 to 24 in a very tight game.Here is another float sporting the football theme inThe Potato Bowl committee would like to thank all the sponsors and the Potato Bowl parade.volunteers who help year after year to make this week a success.
