People, Product News Jerry Larson Passes Away Jerry Larson, 72, of Climax, Minnesota passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at the Halstad Living Center in Halstad, Minnesota. Jerry Larson was born March 6, 1944 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to the late Joseph and Blanch (Knutson) Larson. He grew up in rural Climax, Minnesota and graduated from Climax High School in 1962. He enlisted in the US Army on June 23, 1965 and was discharged on June 22, 1967. Upon his return, he farmed potatoes with Merle Anderson and Joe Larson at Larson Farms. He mar- ried Carole Kragness in Hillsboro, North Dakota on August 3, 1979. During his many years of potato farm- ing, Jerry served on many boards and received many awards including: President of the RRV Potato Grower's Association from 1976-1977, Meritorious Service Award from RRV Potato Growers Association in 1983, he served as National Potato President from 1983-1984, North American Seed Potato Grower of the Year in 1991, Potato Man of All Season in 1999, and environmen- tal Stewardship Award in 2000. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Carole of Climax, Minnesota, 3 sons, Nathan (Michelle) Lindgren of Moorhead, Minnesota, Daniel (Renae) Lindgren of Argyle, Minnesota, and Benjamin (Tonya) Larson of Winston Salem, North Carolina,11 grandchil- dren, 1 geat granddaughter, brother, Darrel (Kate) Larson of Grand Forks, sis- ter Dianne (Paul) Brokke of Bozeman, Montana and many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Blanch Larson. U.S. Seed Featured At Latin American Potato Field Day On August 25, Potatoes USA spon- sored a U.S. demonstration plot at the Panama-hosted Latin American Potato Congress (known as ALAP). In the 2015/2016 marketing year, 77% of all U.S. seed potato exports were to Latin America.
